It is an expensive sweetner used in bakery industry for caramel based/chocolate based baking products. Treacle is ideal where rapid browning (caramelisation) is required at reasonable costs. It also cuts down inputs of caramel and imparts a caramelised flavour to the end product. It is also used as a topping like chocolate sauce.
