ORGANIC SUGAR |
Organic Sugar is a product of Organic Farming . It is produced from a special variety of sugarcane which has been given nil chemical treatment (insecticides, pesticides etc.) Instead only vegetable clarificants and herbal extracts are used to clarify sugar syrup for the manufacture of sugar. As a result only 40% sugar is produced from the same quantity of sugarcane. The quality attributes of Organic Sugar are not only directed towards nil chemical load but also towards entrapment of micro-nutrients to make the product more health friendly. Increased emphasis of CAC (Codex Alimentarius Commission) set up under joint Food & Agricultural Organisation and World Health Organisation food standards prorgramme, on reducing SO2 content in the light of consumer safety and technocommercial issues, clearly depicts the concept of a chemical free sugar.
